Government relations attorney Whitney Campbell Christensen has been elected President of the North Carolina Professional Lobbyists Association ("NCPLA") at the organization's 2023 Annual Meeting last week.
She assumed this position after serving as Vice President over the last year. NCPLA is the statewide membership association for lobbyists, legislative liaisons, and other professional advocates in North Carolina.
Whitney's appointment as President took place during NCPLA's Annual Meeting in October, where she was elected to lead the organization in a vote by the Board membership. Her involvement with NCPLA has been extensive, having served on the Board of Directors for many years, eventually being named to the Executive Committee where she served as Secretary-Treasurer and then Vice President of the Association. She succeeds government relations attorney John Hardin of Manning Fulton, who led the organization from the fall of 2022 through the fall of 2023.
During her one-year term as President, Whitney will lead NCPLA in its mission to promote and protect the practice of professional lobbying in North Carolina. The organization advocates for the profession before the North Carolina General Assembly and provides its members with valuable resources, including Continuing Legal Education (CLE) opportunities and networking events.
Whitney brings a wealth of knowledge to her new role, having lobbied the General Assembly through 14 regular sessions and countless special sessions. Her advocacy work spans various sectors, and she takes pride in representing some of the nation's largest corporations, local governments from the mountains to the coast, statewide professional associations, manufacturers, military support organizations, and nonprofits.
