Attorneys Mayukh Sircar, CIPP/US, and Amy Fitzhugh will represent Ward and Smith at the 27th Annual NIEHS Biomedical Career Symposium on April 15, 2025, held at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) in Research Triangle Park.

The NIEHS Biomedical Career Symposium is a premier event for biomedical professionals, particularly targeting postdoctoral fellows and graduate students. It provides a platform to explore diverse career paths and network with experts in various fields. This year's symposium features a keynote address by Dr. Robert J. Lefkowitz, the 2012 Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry and Chancellor's Distinguished Professor of Medicine at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Lefkowitz will share his journey in a talk titled "A Tale of Two Callings."

Mayukh, a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US), assists clients in managing cybersecurity risks and transforming them into business opportunities. He advises on privacy protection practices across various industries, covering legal requirements and risks related to data handling and disposal. Mayukh also guides clients in establishing privacy compliance programs, responding to data breaches, managing contracts, and navigating technology transactions. His experience encompasses local, state, federal, and international privacy laws, including HIPAA, GDPR, GLBA, CCPA, and CPRA. Mayukh also handles intellectual property owners and licensing related matters. 

Amy represents professionals dealing with licensing issues related to initial licensure, renewal, reinstatement, and complaints before occupational licensing boards. She has appeared before various regulatory boards, including the Medical Board, Board of Nursing, and Psychology Board. Amy also assists with credentialing, privileging, and matters involving the National Practitioner Data Bank. With nearly a decade as the North Carolina Board of Nursing's first in-house attorney, she led its Legal Department and served as Chief Legal Officer and Legislative Liaison. Prior to that, Amy was an assistant district attorney, gaining extensive litigation experience.
