Bankruptcy attorney Lance P. Martin has been appointed as a Chapter 7 Panel Trustee for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of North Carolina. He started handling new cases effective June 26, 2023.
In this capacity, Lance will be responsible for administering business and consumer bankruptcy liquidations by collecting assets from debtors and distributing them among creditors in accordance with the Bankruptcy Code and Rules.
Lance expressed his commitment to his new role, stating, "I am grateful and excited to serve as a Chapter 7 Trustee. I look forward to helping honest but unfortunate individuals obtain a fresh start through bankruptcy and to assisting businesses wind down their affairs and re-pay their creditors."
In addition to his Chapter 7 Trustee duties, Lance will retain his position as a Chapter 11 Subchapter V Trustee, where he manages complex business bankruptcies and supervises corporate entities needing reorganization.
Lance is certified by the American Board of Certification and the North Carolina State Bar as a Board Certified Specialist in Business Bankruptcy Law. With nearly three decades of practice under his belt, he specializes in creditors' rights and bankruptcy law, representing creditors in bankruptcy, collections, foreclosures, Uniform Commercial Code security agreement enforcement, and structured liquidations and workouts. He also provides counsel on drafting and negotiating contracts, loans, and workout agreements. His commitment has earned him prestigious commendations, such as "Super Lawyer" and "Lawyer of the Year," and accolades from Chambers USA.
