Craven Smart Start has named Ward and Smith's IT Director Charles Collins to its board of directors.
The non-profit's mission is to ensure that every child, from birth to age five, in Craven County receives the education, health, and support needed to start school successfully.
While this is Charles' first time working with the Craven Smart Start, he says his interest in education started at a young age.
"My mother was an elementary school teacher, and my father began teaching after 30 years serving in the US Army," Collins stated. "Education has been in my family since I was a kid. So I'm extremely honored and excited to take on this new role and continue the organization's work of making a difference."
Charles' term will run a year.
