Ward and Smith is thrilled to sponsor the upcoming Annual Women's Professional Development Luncheon, hosted by the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, August 28, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Wilmington Convention Center.
This event is a fantastic opportunity for women in our community to connect, learn, and grow together. The luncheon has established itself as a key event in Wilmington, offering a unique blend of networking and inspirational storytelling. Attendees will have the chance to meet and engage with influential women business leaders from some of our region's top employers, building valuable connections that can foster both personal and professional development.
One of the highlights of this year's luncheon is the keynote address by Leah Wong Ashburn, CEO of Highland Brewing in Asheville, NC. As a second-generation family business owner, Leah has successfully led Highland Brewing to new heights while respecting its rich history. Her insights on authenticity in the workplace and her experiences transforming a family business are sure to inspire everyone in attendance.
Leah's impressive career includes a nomination for the prestigious James Beard Award for Outstanding Beer and Wine Professional in 2018 and receiving the WomanUP Woman Executive of the Year Award from the Asheville Chamber of Commerce in 2019. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Leah is a dedicated community leader, serving on several boards, including the Asheville Chamber, Buncombe County TDA, Riverlink, A-B Tech, the UNC Board of Visitors, and the NC Brewers Guild.
