Attorney Alex Ferri is being recognized for her exceptional legal writing skills in a nationwide contest.
Her outstanding legal writing earned her Honorable Mention in the California Lawyers Association's 2022 Marshall M. Schulman Annual Competition for Students Papers in Criminal Law and/or Criminal Procedure.
Open to law students nationwide, the competition required entrants to submit unique legal content exploring relevant issues in criminal law and/or procedure that primarily affected the state of California. Judges evaluated originality, informational value, as well as authors' research, writing, and analytical prowess.
Alex's submission, titled "In a Dog-Eat-Dog World, What Does a Man Have to Do to Protect His Best Friend?" demonstrated her knowledge of the subject. She was one of three law students to earn Honorable Mention in the national competition. Her paper will be published in the Criminal Law Journal, the official quarterly publication of the Criminal Law Section of the California Lawyers Association, next year.
Alex was a Wake Forest School of Law student at the time of the competition submission. She joined Ward and Smith's litigation team in the fall of 2022. Her practice primarily focuses on construction law, where she helps clients with general litigation matters, assisting through all phases of the litigation process, from investigation and pleading to trial, settlement and appeal.
