As Thanksgiving approaches, New Bern residents and visitors alike are getting ready to kick off the holiday festivities with a beloved local tradition—the 17th Annual Turkey Trot on Thursday, November 28.
Hosted by TWIN RIVERS YMCA at the picturesque Taberna Golf and Country Club in New Bern, NC, this event offers a chance to work up an appetite before the big feast, all while supporting a great cause. Participants can choose between the family-friendly 5K, perfect for walkers, runners, and even leashed dogs, or the more competitive 10K for serious runners. The event also offers a Kid’s Dash, where children 12 and under can sprint their hearts out in a 40-yard dash, earning a medal for their efforts.
For those eager to participate, early registration is recommended. The 5K is $38 and increases to $40 on race day. The 10K fees follow a similar structure, starting at $43 and rising to $45 on race day. The Kid’s Dash is set at $16.
To ensure a smooth race day experience, participants are encouraged to pick up their packets at TWIN RIVERS YMCA on November 25th or 26th. For those registering at the last minute, race day packet pickup is available at Taberna Country Club. The 10K kicks off at 7:45 AM, followed by the 5K at 8:00 AM, culminating with the Kid’s Dash at 9:15 AM. Awards will be presented at 8:45 AM to top finishers in various categories.
