Ward and Smith is pleased to welcome family law litigator Phillip Cowan to the firm.
Phillip brings his decades of experience to bear on disputes involving divorce, child custody and support, alimony, premarital and separation agreements, termination of parental rights, and domestic violence. He also has substantial experience managing complex financial issues, including business valuations, equitable distribution, and high-net-worth marital estates.
In addition to his courtroom experience, Phillip regularly works with clients to resolve disputes through mediation and negotiated settlements. His ability to combine legal strategy with practical, results-oriented counsel makes him a trusted advocate for those facing emotionally and financially complex family law issues.
"Phillip is a seasoned litigator who understands that family law isn't one-size-fits-all," said Brad Evans, Co-Managing Director of Ward and Smith. "He brings not only the legal knowledge, but the perspective and judgment needed to help clients make smart, informed decisions during some of life's most difficult moments. We're thrilled to have him."
Before entering private practice, Phillip served in the Wake County District Attorney's Office, where he developed a strong foundation in trial work and client advocacy.
He will be based in Raleigh and will work closely with Ward and Smith's Family Law team across the state.
